Write your Resume - Every top company requires a resume. Use the tips on this website and one of the many programs and books available to help you. Initially create the resume to demonstrate that you possess as many of the skills & capabilties on this website as possible. Before submitting it to a company be sure to highlight what's most important to them.

Start Networking - Send a letter to family and friends telling them that you are interested in finding out more about top companies as possible employment opportunities in the future. If you have specific companies or types of companies in mind, tell them that. Ask them to share what they know with you and keep their eyes open for people who work for these companies that you could contact to ask questions. When you meet new people ask them what they do and really listen to their answers. Ask about the company and why they like working for it. Always exchange business cards with folks you'd like to follow-up with. Having a person's name and title is key. Get yourself a business card organizer to keep track of your contacts.

Do your Research - Make yourself a job search folder and begin researching companies. Start with an internet search under company names or types of industries, for example: "top consumer products companies". Use the tips in this website to research the most pertinent facts.  Read the company's annual report and check out Fortune magazine's lists. With each company you research make a list of follow-up questions to use when you meet a company representative or other employee and eventually interview.

Apply - Most top companies have on-line job applications on their website and this is the only way to get started with them. Even if you reach a recruiter or write the company, they will refer you to the on-line application. Take note of how long it should take to get a response from the company. Once the time has passed, call the company if you haven't heard from them. Most companies are very good about sending out notice of your status especially if they are not interested in you. If you hear nothing, something may have fallen through the cracks. If you are given the chance for an interview, even if it's for a different role/function than you applied, for take it! Remember you can't decline an offer until you have an offer. If your application is declined, ask if you will be considered for future roles. If they tell you yes, they mean it. Most companies keep a pool of applications and resumes on hand for candidates who were not a fit for roles they were applying for.

Most of all, remain optimistic. If you apply what's in this website and utilize the many tools available to you, you can and will secure...
